Stelios Ermogenides is a Cypriot artist who currently resides and works in London, UK. Born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1979, he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in fine arts and contemporary fine art from London-based institutions.
Ermogenides' work is characterized by his use of abstract forms and explores the relationship between color, form, and texture. His paintings blend extra fine and obscure infinite compositions to project a confused and delusional reality, often featuring a bold, isolated, and blunt conceptual subject in contrasting colors. He employs various materials such as oil paint, acrylics, spray paint, and ink, creating a visually complex and layered calligraphic effect.
The emotional and psychological impact of complexity and form on the viewer is a recurring theme in Ermogenides' work, which has been described as a "celebration of the power of painting." His paintings reference contemporary culture, especially the visual hallucinogenic qualities of street art and graffiti. Ermogenides has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and art fairs worldwide. His work has been featured in gallery exhibitions and notable private collections in the UK, Cyprus, Greece, China, Hong Kong SAR, and the United States.
In conclusion, Stelios Ermogenides is an exceptionally talented and innovative artist with a unique style that challenges and evolves the viewer's soul, prompting an inquisitive internal appraisal of our current self-proclaimed inner struggles and self-caused confused existential battles. His work invites the viewer on a deep journey and an inner cleansing of the soul.
In May 2023 PopArtFusion will be exhibiting exclusively for the first time some of the latest work of Stelios and will be releasing a limited edition hand finished and signed by the artist himself lithography prints.
